What caravan can I buy for $60,000, $80,000 or $100,000?
Compare researched new-caravan examples at three Australian budgets, including the difference between advertised price and a complete purchase budget.
In brief
A $60,000 advertised-price ceiling can put compact hybrids on your shortlist. At $80,000, our researched examples include a conventional couples van and a bunk hybrid. At $100,000, additional family layouts become candidates. These are examples from CaravanScout’s current catalogue, not a complete survey of Australian stock or a ranking of the best caravans.

The short answer: start with a layout and a complete quote
Keep two amounts separate: the maximum advertised price used to find candidates, and the total you can spend before your first trip. The examples below draw their figures from the same catalogue records used by our comparison tool. Their manufacturer price pages were checked on 9 October 2026 (UTC). A model can remain a research draft because a weight, model year or layout detail is unresolved.
Up to $60,000: compare compact hybrid routines
The MDC XT12HR MKII and Austrack Tanami X11 are two two-person hybrid examples below this advertised-price ceiling. Both describe internal bathroom facilities, but that alone does not tell you whether the space works for you. Inspect the shower arrangement, usable seating and access with the roof in its travelling position.
The X11 has outdoor slide-out cooking and a pop-top roof. Decide whether cooking outside in rain or wind is acceptable for your usual trips. Its tare remains unconfirmed in our profile because manufacturer sources conflict; a low price does not settle that question. A compact label also does not establish a fit in your driveway or compatibility with your vehicle.

Up to $80,000: choose between couples touring and family bunks
The SRC-17 and Tanami X15B demonstrate why a single budget should not determine your layout. The SRC-17 is a two-person conventional caravan with an island bed, inside kitchen and ensuite. The X15B research record covers a king bed and two bunks, with outdoor cooking. Compare how you will make breakfast, reach the bathroom and sit inside on a wet day.
The SRC-17 manufacturer amount includes registration, pre-delivery and dealer delivery; Austrack lists destination-dependent delivery charges and a fuel surcharge; confirm registration separately. Similar headline amounts therefore do not mean identical final costs. Ask for each quote at your location and with your selected equipment.
The X15B page also lists an internal sink and stovetop, while its detailed kitchen section describes external cooking. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the indoor equipment on the quoted two-bunk unit; this guide does not assume it is an outdoor-only layout.

Up to $100,000: compare bed arrangements and price scope
The Lifechanger Bunkie and XT17HRT+ MKIII offer different family research examples below this ceiling. The Bunkie record states four berths. The MDC five-place description includes a convertible dinette as well as bunks, so five does not mean five permanent beds. Try the layout with every sleeping position set up before deciding that the extra place is useful.
The Crusader amount is a standard-model RRP excluding state registration and upgrades. MDC’s model promotion excludes freight, registration and government charges. Its page also advertises a lower offer for a named VIN; that is a particular stock-unit offer and is not used as the general model price. More spending room is useful only when the complete build still meets your essentials.

- Published ATM
- 3,500 kg
- Travel length

Manufacturer model page advertised a limited-stock $85,990 model promotion on 9 October 2026 (UTC). A separate $79,990 offer is tied to a listed VIN and is not substituted for the model price. Freight, registration and government charges are excluded. The $84,990 showroom offers also appear in the separate stock-specific deals section and are not used as the model headline price.

Turn a price ceiling into a purchase checklist
A useful worked example is deliberately hypothetical: an $80,000 total budget minus a $74,000 configured quote leaves $6,000. That remaining amount must cover every excluded cost and any equipment you still need. The subtraction is simple; the difficult part is discovering which costs are actually excluded. Do not reuse this example as a delivery-cost estimate.
Put the exact model year, floorplan and options on the quote. Ask whether the amount can change before delivery and which contract terms govern it. The ACCC has specifically warned about misleading caravan price-certainty and weight representations. Our budget filter uses the recorded advertised amount, so keep the manufacturer’s conditions beside every candidate.
- Delivery, registration, pre-delivery and any government charges not already included.
- Selected options, installation and the effects on dimensions and weight.
- Insurance, storage, servicing and the equipment needed for your actual trips.
- The agreed build, payment stages and written conditions for any price change.
What if a caravan has no confirmed price?
An unconfirmed price means the catalogue cannot place that configuration inside your budget. It does not mean the caravan is expensive, cheap or unavailable. Budget links here show recorded-price matches; the directory can also include unknown values for research. Ask for a dated quote rather than substituting a range minimum or the amount for another layout.
If your ceiling is below $50,000, broaden your research carefully to simpler new layouts and used vans. Our existing catalogue does not yet provide enough checked examples to make a defensible sub-$50,000 shortlist. We will add a separate guide when exact configurations and current prices support it.
